Asbestos waste disposal
Asbestos skip - price, rules and asbestos waste disposal
An asbestos skip is a renovation skip that may only be filled with tightly packed asbestos waste, and whose contents go to a waste centre licensed to receive asbestos. It typically costs two to three times as much as an ordinary skip. That is why it pays to have a laboratory confirm whether the demolition waste contains asbestos at all before you order one - the analysis costs 39,90 € and the result is ready on the day the sample arrives.
Test the material before you order an asbestos skip
Most people who order an asbestos skip do not know for certain whether their demolition waste contains asbestos - the eye cannot tell. If the 39,90 € laboratory analysis shows the material is clean, the waste can go in an ordinary renovation skip and you easily save several hundred euros in hire and disposal fees. If asbestos is found, you know to order the right skip and to carry out the removal work by the rules. Order an asbestos analysis before you decide on the skip.
Rules for asbestos waste
- Asbestos waste is hazardous waste and must never be mixed with other construction or mixed waste.
- The waste is sealed airtight in double plastic or tight sacks on site, as it comes out.
- Packages are labelled clearly: "Asbestos waste - breathing the dust is dangerous".
- Asbestos waste goes only to waste centres that accept it - often with advance notice.
- Removal work in a building completed before 1994 requires a statutory asbestos survey.
What does an asbestos skip cost?
An asbestos skip typically costs around 300–700 € including transport and reception fees - location, skip size and the amount of waste all affect the price. An ordinary renovation skip often costs 150–300 €, so uncertainty about asbestos alone can double your waste costs. A laboratory test is the most affordable way to remove that uncertainty: an asbestos analysis costs 39,90 € per material.

Onelab's role
Onelab is a laboratory specialising in asbestos analysis - we do not hire out skips and we do not carry out removal work. We examine material samples with a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope and issue a test certificate, so you know for certain whether your waste needs an asbestos skip and licensed removal work, or whether an ordinary renovation skip is enough.
