Reporting
Results and reporting
The result report from an asbestos analysis is a clear, easy-to-read document that tells you unequivocally whether the sample contains asbestos. It also states the type of asbestos, the dustiness class, the analysis method used and an interpretation of the results.
Process
How are the results delivered?
The sample arrives
When your sample reaches the laboratory it is logged and matched to your order. You receive an email confirming that we have it.
Analysis is performed
The sample is analysed with a SEM electron microscope and LIVE-EDS elemental analysis, to the ISO 22262-1 standard. An expert then interprets the results.
The report is delivered
The result report is emailed to you as a PDF on the day the sample arrives. It contains all the results of the analysis.
Content of the report
What does the result report contain?
The result report is a comprehensive document setting out everything essential about the analysis. It is written so that professionals and private customers alike can understand the results at a glance.
Analysis result
Clear information about whether the sample contains asbestos or not. The result is clearly stated.
Asbestos type
If the sample contains asbestos, the report states the type of asbestos (e.g. chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite).
Analysis method
The report indicates the instrument used (JEOL SEM-EDS) and the standard followed (ISO 22262-1).
Sample data
The details you gave us about the sample's site, material and location, plus the date the samples were received and who took them.
Interpretation and dustiness
An interpretation of the results and, for asbestos-containing material, the dustiness (risk) class 0–5.
Laboratory information
Details of the laboratory that performed the analysis, the name of the analyst and the date of the analysis.
Interpretation guide
How are the results interpreted?
"No asbestos detected"
The JEOL SEM-EDS analysis found no asbestos fibres in the sample. As a rule, the material can be handled as ordinary construction waste. Please note that the result applies only to the sample tested - other materials in the same building may still contain asbestos.
"Asbestos detected"
The sample contains asbestos. The report states which type (chrysotile or amosite, for example). Asbestos-containing material must always be removed by an authorised asbestos removal company. Do not attempt to remove it yourself: the work requires specialist equipment, protective gear and proper waste handling.
