Asbestos test
Asbestos test - reliable result from the laboratory €39.90
An asbestos test tells you whether the material contains asbestos. Results on the day of arrival. A JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope, to the ISO 22262-1 standard - an electron microscope is mandatory for counting fibres in air samples from 21 December 2026.
What does an asbestos test mean?
An asbestos test is a laboratory analysis of a material that identifies any asbestos minerals present in the sample. All six types can be identified: chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite, anthophyllite, tremolite and actinolite. In everyday language people say asbestos test; the official term is asbestos analysis.
When should an asbestos test be done?
- Before renovation in a house built in the 1990s or earlier
- You suspect an old floor tile, pipe insulation, roofing felt or façade panel
- In connection with the statutory asbestos survey for demolition work
- Risk assessment in a property transaction
- In occupational safety and air quality investigations
How does the asbestos test proceed?
- Order an analysis online and receive sampling instructions
- Take the sample safely (protective gloves; respirator recommended)
- Send by post or bring to the laboratory
- You will receive the result by email on the day of arrival
Which method is used in the test?
Onelab uses a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope (a scanning electron microscope plus elemental analysis) for every asbestos test, in accordance with the ISO 22262-1 standard. The instrument also identifies thin fibres and reliably tells asbestos apart from other mineral fibres. From 21 December 2026, a light microscope (PLM) alone is no longer enough for counting fibres in air samples.
How much does an asbestos test cost?
A single material sample costs €39.90. For companies and larger batches the price is negotiable. See the full price list or request a quote.
