Asbestos sample by post
Asbestos sample Oulu
In North Ostrobothnia's university and technology city, many renovators want to check the materials themselves: detach a small piece of the suspect structure, pack it and send it by post to Onelab's laboratory. For anyone restoring Oulu's large stock of detached and terraced houses, this is an effortless way to settle the asbestos question without a separate visit.

Why Onelab
A reliable laboratory throughout Finland
Typical asbestos locations in the Oulu building stock
In Oulu the 1960s-1980s suburbs such as Kaukovainio, Puolivälinkangas and Rajakylä along with the extensive stock of detached houses make up most of what was built before 1994. In these properties asbestos appears especially in floor adhesives, wall fillers, tile adhesives and asbestos cement roof sheets. Facade panels are a common renovation target in northern weather conditions and therefore also a common sampling point.
Sending the sample from Oulu
Pack the detached piece in two tightly sealed bags and send it as a letter to our laboratory. From Oulu the letter reaches Espoo typically in 1-2 business days, and no special handling is required. In winter it pays to make sure the sample is dry when packed - moisture does not prevent the analysis, but it slows down handling at the laboratory.
