Why Onelab
A reliable laboratory throughout Finland
Chrysotile in floor adhesives
From properties in Satakunta come both old pipe insulation and newer floor adhesives. The sample is examined with a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope by the criteria of the ISO 22262-1 standard. In Finnish floor adhesives and in the bonding of vinyl flooring the most common finding is chrysotile, that is white asbestos, which accounts for the bulk of world asbestos production. EDS elemental analysis separates it reliably from other mineral fibres.
The result and the requirements for demolition
A positive result moves the job into the scope of asbestos removal work regardless of which asbestos type is involved. Only an authorised contractor may carry it out, and the space must be sectioned off and kept under negative pressure. A negative result is a document with which the renovation can begin normally.
