Asbestos analysis
Asbestos analysis Vaasa
Every sample arriving from Vaasa is examined with a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope, which identifies asbestos fibres in accordance with the ISO 22262-1 standard and EU Directive 2023/2668. The precision of the method separates the fibre types reliably, and results are ready on the day the sample arrives.

Why Onelab
A reliable laboratory throughout Finland
Identifying asbestos cement
From the coastal properties of Ostrobothnia a great many facade sheet samples are sent in. Fibres are identified with a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope; the criteria come from the ISO 22262-1 standard. In asbestos cement the fibres are bound into a cement matrix, which makes optical identification difficult; the electron microscope and EDS elemental analysis identify the fibres despite the matrix on the basis of measured composition.
The result in a facade renovation
A positive result means that removing the sheets has to be done as asbestos removal work by an authorised contractor. An intact asbestos cement sheet does not usually release dust, but sawing or breaking it releases fibres. A negative result gives documented clearance to remove the sheets normally.
