Identifying insulation materials

Old pipe and boiler insulation often used amosite, that is brown asbestos, which is optically hard to separate from other fibres. What the result means
The answer states whether asbestos is present and of which type. In insulation materials a positive result is particularly significant, because old insulation releases dust readily when demolished. The work must then be done as asbestos removal work in a space that is sectioned off and kept under negative pressure. A negative result gives documented clearance to proceed normally.
