Why Onelab
A reliable laboratory throughout Finland
The analysis method
From the power plant and industrial properties of Imatra, insulation samples are sent in as well. Fibres are identified with a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope; the criteria come from the ISO 22262-1 standard. The instrument identifies fibres on the basis of measured elemental composition and separates the asbestos types from one another. The sample is logged and analysed as a rule on the day it arrives.
The result and the stricter limit value
The binding limit value of 0.01 fibres/cm³ has applied to all asbestos work since 21 December 2025, which underlines the importance of a documented analysis result for both the client and the contractor. A positive result requires asbestos removal work by an authorised contractor; a negative one gives written clearance to proceed normally.
